Helena Fruscio is the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology at the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development. She is an experienced creative economy leader, and served as the Creative Economy Industry Director for the Commonwealth.
Before working for the Commonwealth, Fruscio was the Director of Berkshire Creative Economy Council (Berkshire Creative). During her tenure, Berkshire Creative’s programs reached hundreds of creative businesses, organizations and individuals across the county and gained national attention for supporting job creation and economic development opportunities associated with the creative economy. In her roles within Massachusetts government, Fruscio led multiple initiatives including the Creative Economy Network, “Resource Shark Tanks” that supported entrepreneurs, creation of the “Collaborative Workspace” Fund to support co-working and maker spaces across the state, and she chaired the redesign of the state’s business website. Currently, Fruscio is involved in research and policy making on the boarder innovation ecosystem, including the support and construction of innovation communities and infrastructure.
Fruscio graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), School of Imaging Arts and Sciences. She received her Masters of Public Administration from the Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government, where she attended as a Bradford Fellow.
